Niall Walsh, HSEQT Manager, has been recognised as an outstanding achiever in construction by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
As part of its International Construction Management Day celebrations on 14 March 2016, CIOB announced its International Outstanding Achievement Award winners.
The awards recognise “individuals who have performed beyond the normal requirements of their job, introducing innovations or initiatives that have made a visible, tangible or demonstrable change for the better within the built environment sector.”
CIOB Director Saleem Akram said, “the industry’s people are its finest advert and these winners demonstrate just how varied, exciting and important a career in construction management is.”
On Niall’s highly commended award, Monford Managing Director Declan White said, “This is a fantastic achievement to be recognised not only within Australia, but on the international stage, and a testament to Niall’s incredible work and commitment to the industry.”
Having joined Monford in 2012, Niall has worked tirelessly to improve HSEQT standards across all of our projects nationally.
Working closely with our project teams, Niall regularly visits projects to provide advice and support, to ensure our safety policy and procedures are effectively implemented.
One of Niall’s most significant achievements has been the development and implementation of a range of innovative safety initiatives, which has seen our total recordable injury frequency rate reduced from 12.49 to 3.45, and our workers compensation claims reduced by 70%.
“The level of reduction achieved was unprecedented, and a true reflection of the work Niall put in to develop and single handily roll out initiatives which were both innovative and effective,” said Mr White.
