Firm Construction engaged Monford to provide rail infrastructure services for a flash-butt welding facility in Cape Lambert in the Pilbara region, Western Australia.
This computerised facility produces Australia’s longest rail strings (400m). Automated unloading of stock lengths are stacked and fed into the welding plant. Once welded into the longer lengths, 28 gantry cranes load them onto specialised rail carriages for distribution throughout Rio Tinto’s iron ore rail network.
