    Scope of Work

Monford Group were heavily involved in delivering the infrastructure around Perth’s premier sporting precinct. Monford’s work was separated into three parcels: the Camfield Drive road project, the new railway layby area and the Stadium Station Complex. The Camfield Drive road project involved the construction of a new road network connecting Victoria Park Drive to the Perth Stadium Bus Hub, and the extension of Camfield Drive from the Crown Casino to the Perth Stadium Bus Hub, including a new alignment of the principal shared path in the area. The new road construction was designed to cross an interconnecting lake network.

Monford’s site management utilised tablets to complete ITPs, ITRs and HSE inspections online which helped to improve efficiency and compliance, and this tablet-based form system has since been implemented across all Monford’s projects. As the project was located on a contaminated site, our team needed to deal with asbestos, acid sulphate soils and other contaminants, whilst adhering to strict environmental controls and monitoring. We were responsible for virtually all the site preparation and excavation, including stripping and removing the contaminated soils.

    Scope of work

Key elements in the southern section, from Guildford Road to Reid Highway, included the upgrade of this section of Tonkin Highway to a six-lane freeway, new interchanges at Collier Road and Morley Drive and a new flyover over Tonkin Highway at Benara Road. The work included construction of tunnels, bridges, ramps, and all superstructure elements for the bridges. The central section, from Reid Highway to Ellenbrook, was awarded to Monford following the high standard of their work during the execution of Stage 1 of the project. Work in this section of the project principally included the design and construction of a 17.5-kilometre section of the Perth-Darwin National Highway (PDNH).

Not only did this increase road capacity to improve journey times and productivity, the successful completion of this stage of the project significantly reduced congestion on local roads and improved the amenity of the picturesque Swan Valley for both residents and visitors. The third, or northern stage of WA’s NorthLink project – again awarded to Monford – involved the construction of a dual carriageway between Ellenbrook and Muchea, with the four lanes now taking the majority of heavy traffic away from the congested Great Northern Highway.

There was a continuous flow of information and amendments between the client’s design team and our construction team, with updates occurring multiple times throughout the day and night due to the fast-paced nature of the build. We implemented a state-of-the-art document control system to ensure that all data was accurately captured and effectively communicated, minimising information loss. Our innovative approach was essential due to the rapid pace of the build, where construction often progressed ahead of the design. Additionally, with multiple contractors working on-site simultaneously, we effectively coordinated and interfaced with various teams to ensure seamless delivery.
